Kiro CLI 2.0: New Design and Feel, Headless CI/CD Pipeline, Windows Support

Kiro CLI 2.0 bundles headless mode, Windows support, and a UX refresh together as the default experience, tailored for terminal-centric workflows. Now you can handle not just interactive sessions but also automated execution and Windows environments with the same tool.

headless mode works by issuing an API key, setting it as an environment variable, piping input and output, and connecting Kiro CLI to CI/CD pipelines or build scripts. Tasks like creating and publishing PRs or troubleshooting can be run programmatically without interactive input, expanding the scope of deployment automation.

Windows support is another key change. You can now use Kiro CLI natively without workarounds like WSL, and run the agent in Windows Terminal to handle complex codebase work, error analysis, and bug tracking.

The new TUI, previously released experimentally, has moved to GA based on feedback. A new subagent experience, progress monitoring, and a task list that updates in real time have been added, and you can check each subagent's trace and status with ctrl+g.

• Subagents can split work into parallel/sequential steps in the order of designer → implementer → reviewer.
• The task list updates whenever a task finishes, making it easy to track the progress of large tasks.
• The default experience is now CLI 2.0 and the new TUI, and you can send feedback via /feedback if needed.
• To go back to the previous mode, use kiro-cli --classic.
