Set Up Coding Agents in One Go with AI Gateway

Vercel has enabled connecting 9 coding agents, including Claude Code, Codex, and OpenCode, to AI Gateway at once via the vercel ai-gateway coding-agents setup command. It automatically detects agents, generates API keys, and writes the Gateway URL and authentication details to configuration files in each agent's format.

With AI Gateway, you can select from over 200 models in your agents, including models not natively supported. It provides automatic fallback on request failures, and you can monitor per-model traffic, cost, performance, and token usage in a single dashboard.

You can also set budgets, renewal cycles, and expiration dates for API keys, and apply team-wide Zero Data Retention and provider allowlist policies to all agent requests. It also offers tracing features to check the cost, token count, and model used for individual requests.

Models can be selected via each agent's command or settings screen. Configuration files are modified while preserving existing formats and styles, and are not locked to specific models. You can apply default values with the --yes option, or pre-specify specific agents, budgets, and renewal cycles from the command line.
