Introducing the Kakao Style Development Team

As of April 2022, the Kakao Style development team shares the culture and interests of the organization that supports Zigzag, Posty, Fashion by Kakao, and even global services. Recruitment inquiries are handled at [email protected], and current job postings as well as Brunch and Facebook pages are also provided.

The core of the development culture is review-centered work, precise terminology choices, upfront design, minimal comments, and favoring generalists over specialists. This also includes sustainable growth in a hybrid work environment, autonomous choice of work location and hours, regular information sharing, reading and learning, and an orientation toward CI/CD and DevOps.

The collaboration tools used are also clearly defined.

The tech stack is broadly organized by service area. Mobile uses Android and iOS, frontend uses TypeScript, React, and Next.js, backend uses Node.js and Spring, and infrastructure uses AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, Istio, Argo CD, Kafka, and more. In the data and ML area, tools such as Airflow, Spark, MLOps, and Amazon Personalize are used.

The service introduction covers Zigzag, Posty, Fashion by Kakao, and a global service currently in preparation. Since its launch in 2015, Zigzag has introduced personalized advertising, its own payment module Z Payment, and Direct Delivery, and highlights achievements including about 7,300 shopping malls and brands, over 10,000 product updates daily, and total order transaction value surpassing KRW 1 trillion in 2021.

Posty is a fashion platform for women in their 40s and 50s, emphasizing 100% authentic products based on direct contracts with headquarters and a simple main-screen layout. Fashion by Kakao operates in the KakaoTalk More tab, mobile web, and Android/iOS apps, providing an environment where sellers can use the Zigzag system to leverage advertised products as well.
