A Beginner's Guide to the GitHub Copilot App: Task Management

Real-world development environments are not linear, and multiple tasks proceed simultaneously, making centralized management essential. The My work panel allows you to manage tasks that are currently in progress, completed, and next steps in one place.

The My work tab provides four default views: All, Active, Review requests, and Done. These views are automatically filtered based on projects you have worked on in the Copilot app. To include a specific repository, create a session pointing to that repository.

Users can create custom views via New view. You can configure filters using GitHub's angle bracket syntax or the UI. For example, you can combine 'Is: Issue' and 'Assignee: Me' to create a view that shows only issues assigned to you. Sorting criteria can also be freely changed.

The list is displayed by default in a card-style List view, but switching to Table view allows for more granular control, such as selecting, moving, and resizing columns. Additionally, you can select an issue or pull request item to immediately start a new agent session. You can select multiple items to split them into individual sessions or bundle them into a single session, and the repository scope can be changed per session.
