GPT-5.6 Sol Price Drop on AI Gateway, 50% Discount Still Applies

OpenAI has reduced the list price of GPT-5.6 Sol, and the 50% discount on Vercel AI Gateway will continue to apply to the new pricing until September 18. This price reduction is applied uniformly across all service tiers, lowering input token costs by 20% and output token costs to one-third of the previous rates.

Billing through the AI Gateway automatically applies the new rates, and since the model ID (openai/gpt-5.6-sol) remains unchanged, the update takes effect immediately without requiring code modifications. Requests using the BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) method are billed according to the user's own account. The model supports text, image, and PDF inputs, and allows setting reasoning effort up to the max level for complex problems.
