Cloud Agent and Cursor Harness Improvements

Cursor has improved its cloud agents and harness to strengthen an always-on agent system that builds and deploys software without intervention. With this update, agents automatically take over tasks when events occur, maintain sessions until goals are achieved, and stay on track during long-running executions.

Key features include:

• Subscriptions: Monitors PRs, Slack threads, and scheduled tasks, waking up agents to perform tasks automatically when events occur. Currently available only for cloud agents.
• Custom modes: Provides an 'always-on' skill feature that pins specific skills to the chat, focusing the agent on those skills.
• Independent VM sub-agents: Sub-agents can independently perform testing or modification tasks using isolated project copies in their own virtual machines.
• /goal command: Allows setting long-term goals that the agent pursues until fully completed.
• Steering improvements: Enables sending messages to adjust direction while agents are working, with subsequent tasks queued until the next tool call to prevent interruptions.
