Upstage to Attend Google AI Week 2023

Upstage will attend the 'Ministry of Science and ICT-Google AI Week 2023,' co-hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and Google. The event runs for three days, from July 13-15, 2023, and is described as the first large-scale AI conference held in Korea.

The theme of the first day of the event is 'AI for Everyone.' At this event, CTO Hwalsuk Lee of Upstage, the operator of AskUp, will be the only speaker from a Korean company, explaining the development of the generative AI market and business opportunities, the domestic situation, and Upstage's role based on its experience operating AskUp.

CTO Lee will also present the necessity and utilization methods of ssLLM (small scale LLM). In addition, he will introduce AskUp, which makes it easy to use generative AI in messengers, and AskUp Seargest, which combines generative AI with Search+Suggest to provide hyper-personalized recommendations.

Upstage explains that it complements chat AI's limitations in up-to-date information and difficulties with personalization through prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and search/recommendation technology. Through this, it also reveals its direction of implementing solutions that provide customers with the information they want through the most convenient interface.

At the event, Minister of Science and ICT Jong-Ho Lee, People Power Party lawmaker Sung-Joong Park, and Chairman of the Digital Platform Government Committee Jin Ko will deliver congratulatory remarks, and Google's VP Yossi Matias, Google Korea President Kyung-Hoon Kim, Seoul National University Professor Byoung-Tak Zhang, and Korea Software Industry Association Chairman Jun-Hee Cho will present visions of responsible AI and Korea's AI capabilities. The second day continues with AI for Business and the third day with AI for Student, featuring content from Google I/O 2023, a job fair, and a student competition showcase.
