Anthropic Provides 10,000 Claude Seats for Research Labs

Anthropic has opened 10,000 Claude Team seats valid for one year to verified academic and non-profit research labs. Basic seats are free, while premium seats with 5x usage are $15 per month. Separately, through the 'AI for Science' application, labs can request up to $50,000 in credits per project.

Program Conditions and Limitations

This program is simply about providing access and does not imply that Claude improves scientific outcomes. Eligibility is granted at the lab level, and Anthropic maintains additional restrictions on certain biology and drug development tasks with dual-use risks.

Data Exchange Requirements

Participating labs are encouraged to disclose comparable evidence regarding where the model helped, failed, changed decisions, or produced results that other labs could audit. Specifically, this may include time savings, reproducibility rates, negative results, model-assisted decisions, and full provenance logs.
