Amp Launches 'Orbs', a Remote-Execution AI Coding Agent

Amp has unveiled 'Orbs', an AI coding agent that runs on remote machines. Orbs operates in cloud VMs (sandboxes) rather than local environments, automatically generating and executing code when a user inputs a prompt.

Key Features and Characteristics

• Automatic Sleep and Scheduling: When an agent is idle, Orbs automatically enters sleep mode, and costs are incurred only during execution. It can automatically wake up and resume tasks at user-specified times (e.g., 9:00 AM daily).
• Multiplayer Collaboration: Orbs provides a unique URL, allowing users to share conversation history and work status with team members. Team members can be invited to Orbs to directly converse with or interact with the agent.
• Port and Annotation Features: HTTP-enabled ports connect to Orbs' portal, allowing users to provide visual feedback to the agent via annotations.
• Inter-Agent Interaction: Agents within one Orbs can create other Orbs, and Orbs can exchange messages and files with each other.

Orbs is designed not as a simple remote VM, but as a development workflow environment integrating scheduling, collaboration, and inter-agent communication.
