ElevenLabs Launches Eleven Multilingual v1

ElevenLabs has launched Eleven Multilingual v1, which newly supports 7 languages including French, German, Hindi, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, and Spanish. Built on the research behind the existing Eleven Monolingual v1, it leverages more data and computing power to capture the subtle nuances of text and express rich emotion.

This model excels at identifying multilingual text on its own and pronouncing it appropriately. Even when multiple languages are mixed within a single prompt, it can generate natural speech while preserving the speaker's unique voice characteristics.

Key features and notes are as follows:

• It is compatible with existing VoiceLab features such as Instant Voice Cloning and Voice Design.
• Generated voices largely retain their original accent and vocal characteristics across different languages.
• However, there is a limitation where numbers, abbreviations, and foreign words may be pronounced in English within certain language prompts, so until this is improved, it is recommended to spell them out in the target language.

With this update, content creators, game developers, educational institutions, and others can now more efficiently produce high-quality, localized audio content for global audiences, crossing language barriers.
