Google Expands Gemini for Business with Shareable 'Projects' Feature

Google is rolling out new updates to integrate Gemini for Business more deeply into team workflows. The most notable change is that the Projects feature, previously available in the Enterprise version, is being expanded to the Business tier.

Projects function as container-type workspaces that go beyond simple chat threads.

• Individual chats and uploaded files can be managed within a single folder.
• Users can assign colors to projects and set System Instructions that apply to all chats.
• Collaboration features allow multiple users to work together within the same chat, similar to Microsoft Copilot's group chat approach.

Alongside this, Workflow Agents are also being introduced. Through a redesigned builder, users can configure automated scheduled tasks connected to Gmail, Drive, Calendar, and various third-party tools.

This update focuses on narrowing the feature gap between the Business and Enterprise tiers. Through this, Google is expected to strengthen its position in the market for an 'always-on AI assistant' for entire teams, competing with Microsoft, Anthropic, and OpenAI.
