100K Context Window

Anthropic has significantly expanded Claude's context window from the existing 9K to 100K tokens (about 75,000 words). This allows enterprises to input and analyze material spanning hundreds of pages at once, and to carry on very long conversations without interruption.

While it would take a human more than 5 hours to read and analyze 100,000 tokens of text, Claude processes it in under a minute. For example, it took just 22 seconds to find a change to a specific sentence within the entire text of The Great Gatsby (72K tokens).

Beyond simply reading text, Claude can also synthesize knowledge by putting multiple documents or entire books into the prompt. This shows far better performance on complex questions than existing vector search-based approaches.

The 100K context window enables tasks such as:

• Summarizing and explaining large documents such as financial statements or research papers
• Analyzing a company's strategic risks and opportunities based on annual reports
• Identifying risks, themes, and arguments across legal documents
• Answering technical questions using hundreds of pages of developer documentation
• Feeding in an entire codebase to enable rapid prototyping
