Anthropic Achieves ISO 42001 Certification for Responsible AI Implementation

Anthropic has achieved certification to ISO/IEC 42001:2023, a new international standard for AI management systems. ISO 42001 is the first international standard specifying requirements for AI governance, helping ensure AI systems are developed and used responsibly.

This certification provides independent verification that Anthropic has established a comprehensive framework for identifying, assessing, and mitigating potential risks associated with AI systems. Key elements include:

• Policies and processes for ethical, safe, and responsible AI design and deployment
• Rigorous testing and monitoring to verify systems behave as intended and proactively address negative impacts
• Transparency measures that provide appropriate information to users and stakeholders
• Roles, responsibilities, and oversight structures for maintaining responsible practices

Anthropic is one of the first frontier AI labs to receive this certification. This achievement builds on its existing Responsible Scaling Policy, Constitutional AI, and ongoing AI safety research.
