Anthropic Unveils 'Economic Futures Program'

Anthropic has announced the Anthropic Economic Futures Program to understand how AI is reshaping the way we work and the structure of the economy, and to help prepare for it. This program expands on the existing Anthropic Economic Index, aiming to research AI's impact on labor markets and the global economy and to develop policy responses.

The program operates around three core pillars:

• Research Grants: Providing grants, API credits, and partnerships to researchers investigating AI's impact on labor, productivity, and value creation
• Evidence-Based Policy: Running a forum between researchers and policymakers to develop and evaluate policy proposals based on real data
• Economic Measurement and Data: Expanding the Anthropic Economic Index to build a longitudinal dataset tracking the economic use of AI

As concrete support measures, Anthropic will fund empirical research through Economic Futures Research Awards worth up to $50,000, and will hold Economic Futures Symposia in Washington D.C. and London in 2025 to discuss policy proposals. In addition, through strategic partnerships with independent research institutions, Anthropic plans to provide various resources, including API credits, to expand the research ecosystem.
