Mythos Access Discussions

The White House and Anthropic are discussing plans to deploy Mythos Preview to the federal government. Some agencies asked about availability, and OMB sent an email saying it is reviewing the matter. Sources say access could open within weeks.

At the same time, Anthropic is in litigation with the Pentagon. The Pentagon designated Anthropic as a supply chain risk and ordered it removed from military-related workflows; Anthropic's current Pentagon contract is blocked, but it can still do business with the rest of the government.

Mythos has so far been released only to select companies and institutions, being used to check cyber defense capabilities. Civilian departments are showing interest in finding and preparing for vulnerabilities in critical infrastructure such as power grids and financial systems.

• Departments like Energy and Treasury want to use it for national-security-level cyber defense.
• Anthropic maintains that it will not allow use for mass surveillance or fully autonomous weapons.
• The Pentagon says this restriction is vague and is demanding guarantees for all lawful uses.

Within the administration, there are both critical views of Anthropic and assessments that it is top-tier for national-security AI.
