Finnish AI Cloud Startup Verda Raises $189 Million in Series B

Finnish AI cloud infrastructure company Verda has become Europe's newest unicorn after raising $189 million (approximately 163 billion KRW) in a Series B round led by Emergence Capital. With this investment, total capital raised including equity and debt has surpassed $450 million.

Investment Background and Business Status

Verda has been building its own data centers and full-stack platform, with key investors including MUFG Innovation Partners, Supermicro, and Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company. Verda plans to secure over 250MW of operational capacity by 2027, with data center capacity already active in Finland and additional capacity being prepared in Europe, the UK, the US, and Asia.

Technical Infrastructure and Roadmap

Verda offers the latest GPU lineup, including NVIDIA GB300 NVL72, B300 SXM6, and H200, and anticipates early deployment of NVIDIA VR200 NVL72 within the coming months.

In terms of product portfolio expansion, the company is pursuing the following:

• Developer Experience: Public Container Registry, upcoming S3-compatible Object Storage, and pre-configured Kubernetes (Kueue/Slurm) support
• Enterprise Features: SSO-based IAM, Audit Logs, and acquisition of SOC Type II and C5 certifications
• Security: Industry-first Confidential Computing supporting 8x NVIDIA HGX B300/B200

CEO Ruben Bryon stated, "There is an open window of opportunity to build a defining computing company for this generation in Europe," and announced plans to enhance AI model accessibility through concurrent processing of multi-agent sessions and inference optimization.
