AWS Weekly News: AWS's Claude Opus 4.8, Kiro-based Aurora MySQL, and More (June 1, 2026)

The spread of the AI-Driven Development Lifecycle (AI-DLC) is driving a paradigm shift that is reshaping the roles of software development teams into AI-augmented squads.

Anthropic's most powerful model, Claude Opus 4.8, has been released via Amazon Bedrock and the Claude Platform on AWS. This model is optimized for agentic coding and autonomous task execution, with the ability to analyze code while maintaining long context and to self-recover from errors.

AWS Resilience Hub has been reborn as a next-generation version, providing SREs and developers with a unified framework. Through generative AI-based assessment capabilities and automatic dependency discovery, organizations can define and manage resilience standards across the board.

Amazon OpenSearch Serverless has evolved into a fully managed engine for building agentic AI applications. It delivers roughly 20x faster performance and up to 60% cost savings compared to the previous generation, and supports GPU acceleration as well as native integration with Vercel, Kiro, and Claude Code.

Lastly, AWS Transform has added new capabilities to support building migration business cases and TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) assessments, helping with decision-making for workload migration.
