Comfy Launches Comfy Router: A Unified API for Frontier Media Models

Comfy has launched Comfy Router, a unified API designed to integrate frontier image, video, 3D, and audio models into a single interface. The platform allows developers to build once and add new models or switch providers with minimal code changes, leveraging the existing Comfy Developer Platform infrastructure.

Unified Integration and Provider Choice

The router supports Day 0 access to models including Seedance 2.5, MiniMax H3, Kling, GPT Image 2, and Nano Banana Pro. Developers can specify the model and provider (such as fal, Runware, WaveSpeed, or Higgsfield) as parameters in a single SDK call. Unlike automated routing layers, Comfy Router does not silently switch providers if one is unavailable; requests fail explicitly if the chosen provider is down, ensuring transparency.

Pricing and Data

Comfy Router operates on a pay-as-you-go basis using the existing Comfy credits system, with no subscription required. Per-model pricing is listed in the model catalog prior to execution. Regarding data retention, inputs are stored for 24 hours after upload and outputs for 24 hours after generation, after which they are deleted.

Future Roadmap

Upcoming features include support for running Comfy workflows via the same SDK, optional routing strategies (e.g., reliable, fast_start, lowest_cost), and use-case-based routing for tasks like upscaling or background removal. The platform emphasizes user control over provider selection while simplifying the management of multiple API keys and job lifecycles.
