Vercel AI Gateway adds Pixel Canary model in stealth mode with free access

Vercel has added Pixel Canary to AI Gateway under the stealth identifier stealth/pixel-canary. The model is currently available for free for a limited time while in stealth mode.

Performance and Capabilities

Pixel Canary is optimized for coding tasks, particularly frontend development and mobile app design. It handles responsive layouts, navigation, and interactive components effectively.

On Next.js evals, the model demonstrates strong performance:

• It ties GPT-6 Astra (high) with a 90.3% baseline success rate, passing 28 of 31 tasks.
• When supplied with Next.js documentation via AGENTS.md, it passes 30 of 31 tasks (96.8%), matching the leaderboard's top score in that setting.
• Scores are calculated using pass@4, meaning a task is considered passed if any of up to four attempts succeeds.

Availability and Constraints

Users can access the model by setting the model parameter to stealth/pixel-canary. For coding agents, the Vercel CLI can automatically detect installed agents, provision an API key, and configure the connection.

Important privacy note: Zero Data Retention (ZDR) is not available for this model. Prompts and responses sent through Pixel Canary may be used for training and model improvement.
