Cloudflare Simplifies Domain Search and Expands Agentic Registrar Capabilities

Cloudflare has overhauled its domain search experience to provide immediate, transparent results across all 420+ supported extensions. The new interface displays every availability option as users type, utilizing sorting and filtering to manage the volume of results while maintaining the company's at-cost pricing model.

Agentic Registrar Expansion

The update significantly expands the Registrar API beta launched in April, introducing a sandbox for testing workflows without real transactions. New endpoints provide detailed information on registry requirements and support programmatic domain transfers. These capabilities are now accessible via Cloudflare MCP and the newly launched cf CLI, allowing AI agents to search, register, and transfer domains through natural language prompts.

Technical Architecture for Speed

To handle the complexity of querying hundreds of registries, Cloudflare built the search on its Developer Platform. The system uses Workers for entry points, Durable Objects to coordinate individual search sessions, and Workers KV for storing prepared availability datasets. This architecture allows the service to progressively probe multiple evidence sources—such as zone files, DNS answers, and live registry lookups—updating results dynamically as fresher data arrives.

Pricing and Availability

The new search and pricing pages display both initial registration and renewal costs for every domain. Coinciding with Birthday Week, Cloudflare is offering first-year registration discounts on select extensions including .io, .dev, .app, and .tech.
