NVIDIA Announces Open Agent Safety Platform; Anthropic Collaborates to Integrate Security Layers with Managed Agents

NVIDIA announced the Open Agent Safety Platform, an open software platform and reference system design aimed at strengthening AI security. As part of this initiative, Anthropic collaborated with NVIDIA to bring additional layers of security and control to the agent stack. This collaboration enables enterprises using Claude Managed Agents to leverage NVIDIA's OpenShell, an open-source runtime, to control and audit agent actions beyond model-level safeguards.

Layered Security Architecture

The system employs modular, independent layers of protection that operate outside the model itself. This architecture ensures that security does not rely on a single point of failure and allows companies to adopt specific layers that fit their infrastructure.

• Claude Managed Agents: Runs the agent loop on a separate server from the sandbox environment. Credentials are stored in a distinct vault, ensuring the agent never directly sees passwords or access keys. It also provides audit trails and integrates with existing enterprise access controls.
• NVIDIA OpenShell: An open-source runtime that governs agent behavior by enforcing strict rules. It checks every tool usage and data access request, blocking actions unless explicitly permitted by policy. A policy prover uses mathematical proof to confirm what the agent can reach under the defined rules.

Enterprise Adoption

Several companies are utilizing these technologies. Notion allows engineers to use Claude within their workspace for tasks like shipping code. Rakuten deploys specialist agents across various departments, and Asana uses Managed Agents to build AI Teammates that assist with project tasks and deliverables.

Availability

Claude Managed Agents is available today and can operate in sandboxes controlled by the user or via managed services. NVIDIA OpenShell is open-source under the Apache 2.0 license and is available on GitHub and NVIDIA's developer resources.
