Apple Previews New Parental Control Features

Apple introduced new tools that let parents more intuitively manage what content their children watch, who they communicate with, and how much time they spend on apps. These features will be delivered through this fall's software update.

Key updates include the following:

• Child Account: Required for children under 13, and also supported for teens under 18. Through account setup, website and media restrictions as well as App Store age limits can be applied system-wide.
• App Selection and Management: Parents can directly specify which apps their child is allowed to use, or configure a set of essential apps and gradually expand the range of available apps.
• Ask to Buy: Requires parental approval when a child attempts to download a free or paid app from the App Store or make an in-app purchase.
• Ask to Browse: Can be set so that a child needs parental permission to access a new website in Safari.

This initiative was designed based on expert guidelines, with the goal of building a safe and trustworthy digital environment for child users.
