Siri AI for iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 Delayed in the European Union Due to Digital Markets Act (DMA)

Apple unveiled the new Apple Intelligence-based Siri AI, but due to the European Union's (EU) Digital Markets Act (DMA) regulations, the launch within the EU will not be possible in line with the iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 release. This is because several solutions proposed by Apple were rejected by EU regulators.

As a result of this decision, EU users will not have access to the following key features:

• Siri AI and conversation history viewing feature
• Expanded Visual Intelligence experience
• Integrated Writing Tools and camera Siri mode
• Various Siri AI features announced at WWDC26

However, EU users will still be able to use Siri AI on macOS 27, visionOS 27, and watchOS 27.

For security purposes, Apple proposed an intermediary solution called Trusted System Agent, but the European Commission did not accept it. Apple stated that it is concerned the regulators' interpretation could create risks of personal data theft and device control via AI, and that it currently cannot confirm an exact launch timeline for Siri AI on iOS/iPadOS in the EU.
