Kakao Recruits Developers for Wallet Service to Accelerate Digital Identity

Kakao's Wallet Service Development Part is recruiting personnel to develop core features within KakaoTalk Wallet. The goal is to digitally replace areas that previously required physical identification, despite the widespread adoption of smartphones and mobile payments.

Key Development Services

The part directly develops the following areas within the wallet service in the KakaoTalk "More" tab.

• Authentication Service: Identity verification and login using Kakao Certificates, and management of PIN/biometric authentication information
• Digital Cards: Communication tools proving qualifications, ownership, and affiliation, used to replace employee IDs and for access control
• Wallet QR: Access and age verification QR services used in unmanned convenience stores and similar locations
• Electronic Certificates: Issuance, storage, and submission to institutions of documents such as resident registration extracts and vaccination certificates

Tech Stack and Culture

The tech stack includes Kotlin, Python, Spring, JPA/Hibernate, and Vue.js. Infrastructure utilizes Jenkins, Kubernetes, Docker, and Ansible, while data processing uses the MySQL, Redis, Kafka, Zookeeper, and ELK stack.

Given the nature of handling sensitive personal information, security and stability are prioritized in design, but the application of the latest technology trends and bottom-up service improvements are actively encouraged. Regular mingling sessions are held to facilitate communication among team members even in remote work environments.
