The Open Source Growth Story of an FE Platform Team Developer: ESLint Committer and Rome Contributor

joah from the FE platform team shared his experience of developer growth through open source contributions. He has been active as a contributor to the Rome project and a committer on the ESLint project. As a junior developer, he felt uncertainty about writing code and pressure from code reviews. He merged his first PR by resolving a regex fix issue in ESLint, and continued participating by adopting an approach of analyzing only the parts necessary to resolve issues. At ESLint, he was promoted to committer after being recognized for his value in answering issues on behalf of maintainers, and at Rome, he contributed parser-related features. He stated that through open source activities, he gained experience with meticulous code reviews from global engineers at Facebook and Google, deep dives involving direct verification of ECMAScript specification documents, and coding in a rigorous testing environment that requires testing all branches.
