Kakao Hosts Fourth 'Techtalk' Internal Tech Seminar, Sharing Frontend Collaboration and Open Source Growth Stories

Kakao held the fourth session of its internal tech seminar, Techtalk, focusing on frontend (FE) technologies. This seminar consisted of three sessions covering designer collaboration, backend development efficiency, and open source community collaboration.

Functional CSS and Figma-Based Collaboration

teo.yu (Yongtae Yu) from Kakao Enterprise shared his experience adopting Functional CSS to overcome the limitations of existing CSS methodologies. He introduced the reasons why applying the most popular framework, Tailwind CSS, was difficult in real-world scenarios and presented a Functional CSS framework developed internally to address these issues. Additionally, he presented a case study of successfully leading collaboration between designers and web frontend developers by integrating with Figma, along with practical application methods during the development of a calendar service.

Improving Development Efficiency Through Mocking

lawrence.net (Sungmin Ma) from Kakao Enterprise introduced mocking technology as a solution to backend dependency issues encountered during frontend development. He emphasized that using msw.js and the underlying Service Worker technology allows for the establishment of efficient development and testing environments even before the backend is complete. In particular, he shared his experience of reducing bottlenecks by utilizing this technology in real-world Single Page Application (SPA) development.

A Junior Developer's Open Source Growth Journey

joah.yeon (Jia Yeon) from Kakao shared her experience of growing as a project member by participating in open source projects as a junior frontend developer. She discussed the initial uncertainty she felt as a new developer when first encountering open source and the process of diving into projects to overcome it, conveying the positive impact of open source activities on technical growth and networking.
