Kakao Unveils 'Untact Onboarding' Program for New Developers in the Pandemic Era

Kakao designed a program consisting of three-stage modules to conduct the onboarding for its 2021 new graduate developer hires entirely non-face-to-face. In the pre-entry stage, New-krews were gifted specially made goods and family business cards, and were supported in selecting specific job roles through online office tours and Q&A sessions introducing job duties by the CTO and crews. In the common onboarding lasting about one week after entry, new hires learned Kakao's working methods and collaboration skills, and shared the company's vision and philosophy through a 'CEO talk talk' session featuring CEO Sean and Mason. In the subsequent five-week technical onboarding, processes were conducted for each of the five specific job roles to build foundational capabilities and development habits through live lectures, pair programming, and code reviews.
