Judy, a developer on the Kakao FE Platform Team, shared her experience attending her first conference and insights from key sessions in a recap of JSConf Korea 2020. Held online due to COVID-19, the event consisted of a main stage, expo booths, and track sessions, showcasing various use cases within the JavaScript ecosystem.

Revisiting the Importance of Web Accessibility

Presenter Anuradha Kumari emphasized that web accessibility is not merely about speed management, stressing the importance of keyboard focus management and providing alternative text. Developer Judy reflected on past projects where button outlines were removed for design reasons or alt tags were omitted, pointing out that accessibility must be considered from the planning stage through development.

JavaScript-Based IoT Home Automation

Presenter Justine introduced a case study implementing home automation using Raspberry Pi and Node.js. The session demonstrated that even complex IoT systems can be sufficiently implemented with JavaScript, inspiring Judy to develop an air conditioner remote control feature as a personal project.

Design Systems and Collaboration Efficiency

Jeon Woo-jin, a developer on the Kakao Enterprise AI Search Team, presented the adoption story of KST (Kakao Search Template), offering methods to reduce communication costs between planning, design, and development. Reflecting on past projects where poor management of common components led to development debt, Judy evaluated that systems like KST would help improve collaboration efficiency.
