Expanding into a global service

Replit is taking a leap beyond its US-centric infrastructure into a full-fledged global service. It is building its first two non-US compute regions in Mumbai, India, and London, UK, to provide a faster environment for users around the world.

Previously, all traffic had to pass through a single data center in the US, causing overseas users to experience latency of up to 300ms per keystroke. Now, repls run in the data center closest to the user, dramatically reducing latency and improving the collaboration experience.

Alongside the infrastructure expansion, Replit is also expanding global hiring. Employees can work from anywhere in the world, but to ensure smooth collaboration between teams, they must overlap with PST (Pacific Standard Time) working hours for 4 hours each day.
