AI-Powered Threat Detection and Response Using Google Security Operations Agents

As attacks exploiting AI technology surge, organizations need the ability to respond faster than attackers. Google Security Operations works together with Google AI Threat Defense to provide capabilities for monitoring, detecting, and responding to threats, particularly those arising from code that cannot be patched or that organizations do not own.

According to a recent report, the speed of vulnerability exploitation is accelerating to the point where exploitation can occur even before a patch is released, and the average time from vulnerability detection to full patching is 43 days, deepening the security gap. To address this, Google offers a 3-step strategy as follows.

• Continuous and autonomous coverage analysis and detection generation
• Autonomous investigation, containment, and response
• Retroactive hunting

In particular, the Detection Engineering agent, currently in preview, analyzes new vulnerability exploitation patterns and automatically generates detection rules tailored to each environment. It leverages threat intelligence from Google Threat Intelligence and Mandiant to rapidly identify new attack patterns exploiting unpatched vulnerabilities.
