Two Scoops Study Group - X

This week, we split the study between Chapter 14 (Template Tags and Filters) and Chapter 15 (Django Templates and Jinja2) of Two Scoops of Django. Since the study group's rules changed, there wasn't much content to cover in depth, and afterward we listened to a story about ancient relics that Hoseong brought up.

In the Chapter 14 summary, the key points shared were the performance issues with template tags and the anti-patterns to avoid. In the following Chapter 15 summary, we compared the pros and cons of DTL and Jinja2, and personally, I noted that Jinja2's syntax felt more Pythonic.

In the deep-dive session, we discussed by directly checking questionable parts of Chapters 14 and 15 with Django code or looking for workarounds. For example, we looked into whether template filters really can only take two arguments, and how template caching actually works.

Since we had some extra time, we also got to hear about the ancient relic box that Hoseong talked about. It ended with hints about the mystery object—something that lives in conditions hard for humans to survive in, that shouldn't be watered, and that is cold on the outside but hot inside, requiring the heat to be continuously vented—leaving us to guess what it is.

I also noted the regret that writing this review late makes the memories fuzzier. Still, I found meaning in the fact that the study group has reached the halfway point, and concluded that the learning becomes more solid through the process of asking questions and sharing with each other.
