Anthropic signs partnership with UK government... to introduce AI assistant to GOV.UK services

Anthropic is collaborating with the UK's Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) to build and pilot an AI-powered assistant dedicated to GOV.UK. This project is part of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed in February 2025, aiming to innovate public services through advanced AI.

The newly introduced AI assistant is an Agentic system built on Claude. Going beyond simply answering questions, it provides personalized support to help users navigate government processes smoothly.

Key features and plans are as follows:

• Employment support specialization: In the initial phase, it will provide job seekers with tailored career advice, guidance on training programs, information on benefits, and connections to appropriate services.
• User experience optimization: It maintains conversational context so users don't need to explain everything from scratch on return visits, while ensuring data control and privacy protection.
• Technical capability building: Anthropic engineers will collaborate with UK government officials and developers, transferring skills so that the government can independently maintain and operate the system in the future.

This project will proceed in stages following DSIT's 'Scan, Pilot, Scale' framework, and proven technology is expected to be expanded across public services more broadly.
