Introducing MongoDB to Oliveyoung's Display Area

The Oliveyoung online mall is pursuing the introduction of a new architecture to improve service quality in line with its rapid growth. The existing legacy system based on RDBMS had limitations in that managing unstructured display data required the use of common columns, resulting in significant effort whenever the data structure needed to change.

To address this, Oliveyoung introduced MongoDB, which has a Schema-less structure. MongoDB is a document-oriented database in Key-Value form, allowing various types of display corner data to be flexibly stored in object form, eliminating unnecessary data processing steps and maximizing management efficiency.

A Versioning strategy was also applied to ensure stable data operation.

• Stabilization area: manages data currently in service
• History/reservation area: manages previous records or data to be serviced in the future

Through this versioning, stable lookups are possible even when data changes, without complex searching, and rapid Rollback is possible if problems occur. Oliveyoung plans to expand the scope of MongoDB usage to product information and personalization information areas in the future.
