Codex Settings

Codex settings can be opened from the menu at the bottom left, and at first it's enough to get familiar with four items: Personalization, Prevent sleep while running, Detail level, and Appearance.

• General > Prevent sleep while running: Keeps your computer from going to sleep while Codex is running, so long-running tasks can continue.
• General > Detail level: Adjusts how much information is shown during a task. Coding mode shows the specific commands being executed, and you can switch to Default if you want a cleaner conversation.

In Personalization, you can choose a friendly or a direct tone, just like in ChatGPT, and you can also add custom instructions.

In Appearance > Avatar, you can assign an avatar to help with background tasks. The avatar can be dragged anywhere on the screen, and selecting it brings you back to Codex.

You don't need to learn all the settings right from the start—keep permissions conservative and adjust the items you need as you go.
