Google Meet Voice Translation Rolls Out to Mobile

Google Meet's voice translation feature has begun expanding to mobile devices as well. It can be tried via the "try this out now" prompt that appears during meetings, and works by reading back what the other person said in the user's preferred language after a short delay.

This feature is aimed at scenarios where two people are speaking in different languages, and originally includes an approach that mimics the original speaker's voice to some degree. Currently, it only supports English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, and Italian.

However, it is still close to an alpha stage. The author confirmed it working between two laptops with web browsers open, but reported it did not work properly between an iPhone and an iPad.
