Kakao and Samsung Host First Joint Hackathon to Solve AI Livelihood Issues

Kakao's 'Kakao Tech Bootcamp' and Samsung Electronics' 'SSAFY' collaborated for the first time to hold an AI hackathon based on the Ministry of Employment and Labor's K-Digital Training (KDT) project. The event was themed around the 'Top 10 AI Livelihood Projects' selected by the government, with approximately 90 participants from 12 teams that passed the preliminary round developing AI service prototypes to address social issues such as supporting small business owners and responding to voice phishing over a two-day, one-night period. Mentors included officials from government ministries such as the Korean National Police Agency and the Ministry of Justice, as well as active developers from Kakao, providing practical experience. Through final judging, a total of 5 teams won awards, including the 'Golden Time' team, which developed the maritime distress rescue AI service 'DRIFT' and received the Minister of Employment and Labor Award, and the 'SSAIKA' team, which developed the AI civil complaint processing service 'Mindam' and received the Kakao CEO Award. Both companies plan to expand cooperation for talent development and social value creation based on this collaboration.
