Airbyte launches context layer for AI agents

Airbyte has launched Airbyte Agents. The core is a context layer that lets agents first find business data such as customers, tickets, invoices, messages, and records, and only read and write the latest state when needed.

• Airbyte Agent MCP allows no-code connection to MCP-compatible clients like Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor.
• Agent SDK enables building custom agents and apps with fine-grained control over queries, permissions, and state.
• Automations is a visual interface for creating and running agents inside Airbyte, currently in research preview.
• At launch, 50 production-ready connectors are provided, supporting Salesforce, HubSpot, Zendesk, Linear, Slack, and more.
• Some connectors also support write operations, enabling record updates, ticket creation, and message posting.
• In early testing, the company said it reduced tool calls by 40% and cut token usage by up to 80%.
• Alongside the launch, a free tier is offered, and contracted customers get 3 months free on the Team plan.

The company explained that while maintaining its existing data replication engine and open-source offering, it is expanding this into context infrastructure for agents.
