Update on Mental Health-Related Work

OpenAI is strengthening various safety measures to protect the mental health of ChatGPT users. Following the already introduced parental controls feature, it will soon roll out a trusted contact feature that lets adult users notify someone when they need support.

In addition, new evaluation methods are being introduced to help the model better detect and respond to signs of emotional distress. This aims to simulate long-term mental health-related conversations to identify potential risks and help ChatGPT respond appropriately at sensitive moments.

Meanwhile, several ChatGPT-related mental health lawsuits have recently been consolidated into a single proceeding in a California court. OpenAI stated that, throughout this litigation process, it will clearly establish the facts and respond transparently, while staying focused on its core mission of improving the technology to guide users toward real support.
