Introducing Prism

OpenAI has launched Prism, an AI-native workspace designed to enhance the efficiency of scientific research. Built on GPT-5.2, Prism provides an integrated environment where scientists can write papers, revise them, and collaborate with colleagues.

Traditional research workflows involved the hassle of switching between fragmented tools such as editors, PDFs, LaTeX compilers, and reference managers. To address this disconnection, Prism built a cloud-based LaTeX-native workspace that unifies the entire process into one.

The key features of Prism are as follows:

• Idea exploration and reasoning through complex scientific problems using GPT-5.2 Thinking
• Drafting and revising papers with an understanding of the document's full context (equations, citations, figures, etc.)
• Searching related literature on sources like arXiv and incorporating it into the manuscript
• Instantly converting whiteboard equations or diagrams into LaTeX
• Real-time collaborative work and voice-based editing support

Prism was developed based on Crixet, a cloud LaTeX platform acquired by OpenAI, and is currently available for free to ChatGPT individual account users. It is expected to expand to users on ChatGPT Business, Enterprise, and Education plans in the future.
