Inside GPT-5 for Work: How Enterprises Are Using GPT-5

ChatGPT has seen widespread use across all industries and job functions just two and a half years after launch. Currently, over 25% of U.S. workers and 45% of those with graduate degrees use ChatGPT for work.

Unlike traditional enterprise technology, which typically involves long adoption periods and high costs, ChatGPT achieved rapid growth as individual usage habits naturally carried over into work. Weekly active users (WAU) now exceed 700 million.

Key adoption metrics are as follows:

• 43% of U.S. knowledge workers use AI (Stanford).
• 28% of employed U.S. adults use ChatGPT for work (Pew).
• Over half of AI users use it 4 or more days per week, and daily usage has doubled over the past year.

The tangible effects of AI adoption have also been demonstrated. According to research from the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, over half of AI users save more than 3 hours per week, and Harvard research found that knowledge workers using AI show 40% higher quality work. Adoption patterns are especially pronounced among those aged 18 to 29.
