EU Code of Practice and the Future of European AI

OpenAI has expressed its intent to sign the EU Code of Practice for General Purpose AI, a framework for compliance with the EU AI Act. This is a measure to help AI developers in Europe smoothly meet regulatory requirements.

At the same time, in response to strong demand from European governments and businesses, it is launching the 'OpenAI for Countries European Rollout'. Through this, it plans to contribute to building Europe's AI future and creating economic opportunities.

OpenAI's technology is currently being used across various fields throughout Europe:

• Accelerating drug development and medical research through a partnership with Sanofi
• Supporting scientific research at major research institutions such as Science Po and the Max Planck Society
• Creating customized educational environments at Estonian middle schools and ESCP Business School
• Strengthening the global competitiveness of European startups such as Parloa and Pigment

OpenAI is calling for regulatory simplification and harmonization for startups and SMEs so that regulation does not stifle innovation. It also emphasized that for Europe to close the productivity gap with the United States, strategic investment in AI infrastructure, energy, and securing training data is essential.
