OpenAI Announces Nonprofit Commission Advisory Council

OpenAI has formed a new nonprofit commission advisory council to support its nonprofit activities and expand its social impact. This commission will play a role in supporting organizations working to address global challenges in health, education, public services, and scientific discovery.

Four experts with decades of experience in social justice and community engagement have been appointed to the advisory council: Dolores Huerta, Monica Lozano, Dr. Robert K. Ross, and Jack Oliver. Daniel Zingale will serve as convener of the commission.

The advisory council will carry out the following key tasks:

• Advise the board on a transparent community engagement process that includes affected communities and the general public
• Gather insights from the health, science, education, and public service sectors to help strengthen OpenAI's capacity to invest resources
• Submit key deliverables from the community feedback and collaboration process to the board within 90 days

This decision reflects OpenAI's goal of harnessing the transformative power of AI to help nonprofits achieve greater impact across areas such as research, diagnostics, and education.
