3 Google Updates Announced at Galaxy Unpacked 2026

At Galaxy Unpacked 2026, Google unveiled three Gemini features coming to Samsung's new foldable devices.

Gemini Intelligence task automation expands support to over 40 apps. Users can delegate everyday "life admin" tasks to Gemini, such as shopping, restaurant reservations, travel bookings, and event ticket purchases, with advanced reasoning that can also use what's on screen and complex images as prompts. On the Galaxy Z Flip8, it can be accessed instantly via a long press of the power button on the Flex Window.

Gemini Notebook (formerly NotebookLM) comes pre-installed on the Galaxy Z Fold8 series. Users can drag and drop photos, documents, and voice recordings into a side-by-side workspace, and generate custom content such as slides, videos, flashcards, and podcasts. Buyers of the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8, and Flip8 will receive a 6-month free trial of Google AI Pro.

Gemini is also expanding to wearables. On the Galaxy Watch 9, simply raising your wrist activates Gemini without a wake word. In addition, Gemini is being built into Android XR smart glasses being developed in partnership with Samsung, Gentle Monster, and Warby Parker, which can be controlled via hand gestures when paired with a compatible Wear OS watch.
