AMD's Instinct MI455X: Toward the Sun

AMD announced the Instinct MI455X, its top-tier AI stack product replacing the existing MI355X. This product is AMD's first rack-scale AI deployment GPU designed based on the CDNA5 architecture.

Key features are as follows:

• Helios Rack-scale Solution: Scales up to 72 GPUs within a single Pod, offering a dramatic improvement in scalability compared to the previous system (8 GPUs).
• Networking: Supports single-hop any-to-any communication across the rack through a fault-tolerant scale-up networking architecture based on UALink over Ethernet (UAEoL).
• Compute Performance: Equipped with 8 XCDs (Accelerator Complex Dies) and 256 WGPs, delivering up to 40.26 PFLOP of peak compute performance on the OCP MXFP4 standard.
• Memory Specifications: Equipped with 12 stacks of HBM4, securing a total memory capacity of 432GB and bandwidth of 23.3 TB/s.
• Packaging: Uses TSMC's CoWoS-L process to maximize high-performance computing power and memory bandwidth.
