AWS Weekly Roundup: Amazon Connect Health, Bedrock AgentCore Policy, GameDay Europe, and More (March 9, 2026)

Last week, AWS unveiled a wide range of updates spanning healthcare, agent control, network security, gaming, and developer experience. Amazon Connect Health launched generally, offering 5 AI agents for patient verification, appointment management, patient insights, ambient documentation, and medical coding, and is HIPAA-eligible for rapid deployment into existing clinical workflows.

Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Policy also became generally available, enabling centralized management of tool access and input validation outside of agent code. Security and compliance teams can write policies in natural language, which are automatically converted into Cedar policies.

Also introduced were a method for spinning up a private AI assistant with OpenClaw on Amazon Lightsail, the transition of VPC Encryption Controls to a paid model, support for OpenSearch Service and Neptune Analytics in Database Savings Plans, and an AI-powered environment analysis feature in Elastic Beanstalk. In addition, it's now easier to create IAM roles within service workflows, and a Kiro feature to help with Lambda durable functions development and GameLift Servers DDoS Protection were also added.

In the community, a portable AI memory layer built with MCP and Amazon Bedrock, along with an experimental project that generates web apps at runtime, stood out. Upcoming events include AWS Community GameDay Europe (March 17), NVIDIA GTC 2026 (March 16-19), and several AWS Summits and Community Days.
