Shopify and Vercel Rebuild Hydrogen for Faster Storefronts

Shopify, which supports millions of stores worldwide, is partnering with Vercel to rebuild Hydrogen, a framework for building headless storefronts, from the ground up.

The new version of Hydrogen is open source and designed to be runtime agnostic, allowing developers to build with whatever framework they prefer, including Next.js, Nuxt, and Svelte.

Through this update, the following changes are expected:

• Minimized custom code: Optimal implementation patterns are built in by default, eliminating the complex glue code that was previously required.
• Increased development efficiency: Provides a type-safe API client and cart state available through a single import.
• Speed innovation: For retail companies like Global Retail Brands, feature development time can be reduced from several months to just one week.
