Developing an Automated Slackbot for Deployment Efficiency

Kakaopay performs more than 10,000 large-scale deployments annually, and in accordance with electronic financial supervisory regulations, it operates with development and operations organizations separated. However, the existing deployment process involved manual work such as assigning personnel and coordinating schedules, causing high fatigue and human error.

In particular, the bystander effect, where responsibility becomes diffused in shared tasks, and communication delays caused by information mismatches between the deployment control system (VROOM) and Slack were pointed out as key problems.

To address this, an automation system utilizing a Slackbot was built. The main features are as follows:

• Automatic assignment of deployment personnel: Designates specific individuals to instill task responsibility and simplify the deployment preparation process.
• Streamlined deployment communication: Synchronizes system processing with Slack sharing when deployment status changes, preventing unnecessary waiting time.
