The Future Belongs to Everyone

Meta presented a vision that superintelligence will enable new inventions, discoveries, businesses, learning, and health improvements beyond human capabilities, and that it must be provided to everyone. It explained that the core questions are who has access to superintelligence and for what purposes it will be used.

The philosophy proposed by Meta consists of three pillars.

• Individual empowerment is the source of prosperity.
• Invention is the primary purpose of superintelligence.
• Balance of power is the foundation of safety.

Meta opposed the argument that superintelligence should be concentrated in a few institutions or experts due to the risks of AI. It emphasized that historically, major human progress has come not only from existing institutions but also from individuals leveraging powerful tools—such as brothers in a bicycle shop, apprentices without formal education, and students in a garage—and that superintelligence should similarly enable more people to shape the future.

While early AI focused on answering questions and automating repetitive tasks, Meta predicted that superintelligence's greatest contribution will be invention rather than automation. It explained that superintelligence could generate unlimited new knowledge to help individuals achieve their goals, such as developing new drugs, discovering treatments for family illnesses, or exploring ways to improve businesses.

Furthermore, Meta argued that since there is no single objective answer to what constitutes a good life, superintelligence itself or a few experts should not decide on behalf of humanity. Instead, it stated that superintelligence should be widely decentralized, much like supercomputers and the internet were made accessible to everyone, allowing individuals to direct it according to their own interests and life goals.

To implement this, Meta explained that it is building personal agents that understand each user's goals and interests and operate on their behalf 24/7.
