Upstage's AskUp Surpasses 100,000 KakaoTalk Channel Friends

Upstage's KakaoTalk AI chatbot AskUp surpassed 100,000 KakaoTalk channel friends just one week after launch. To celebrate, Upstage extended its '100 Questions 100 Answers' event, originally scheduled to run until the 16th, to the end of March.

AskUp is a service that combines OpenAI's ChatGPT with Upstage's OCR technology. Dubbed 'ChatGPT with eyes,' it reads and understands document photos that users capture or send and responds accordingly. After reaching 30,000 users just 3 days after launch, it has recently been gaining an average of over 20,000 channel friends per day.

The company cited its No. 2 ranking on KakaoTalk's channel friend surge chart for 4 consecutive days as evidence of word-of-mouth growth. Going forward, to reduce generative AI's hallucination issues and its limitations in reflecting real-time information, the company plans to continue daily updates and also plans to release the prompt code used to implement its features.
