Upstage signs multi-year strategic collaboration with AWS

Upstage has signed a multi-year Strategic Collaboration Agreement (SCA) with AWS and joined the AWS ISV Accelerate Program. Through this collaboration, the two companies will strengthen joint sales and global expansion of generative AI enterprise solutions, and broaden overseas adoption of Upstage's flagship LLM, SOLAR.

Upstage unveiled SOLAR MINI on AWS in March 2024. This SLM can be easily customized and fine-tuned for Korean, Japanese, and English tasks, and Thai language support is planned to be added in 2024.

The scope of application is also broad. SOLAR models are used for tasks such as understanding, summarization, translation, and predicting new content, while also enhancing data protection and confidentiality based on AWS's secure infrastructure.

AWS will provide Upstage with guidance on responsible generative AI application methods and ML operations optimization. Upstage will use Amazon SageMaker to tailor SOLAR to industry-specific needs, and expand deployment reach through Amazon SageMaker JumpStart and AWS Marketplace.

• Over 400 customers worldwide are building customized LLMs, chatbots, and knowledge bases with Upstage across education, healthcare, legal, finance, and telecommunications sectors.
• Shinhan Securities is developing a financial knowledge database system for employees.
• Law&Company is preparing SOLAR-Legal, a legal support model for public organizations and citizen services.

Upstage will also participate in AWS Summit Washington D.C. on June 26-27, continuing its collaboration with public sector leaders.
